Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia is a yearly, peer-reviewed academic e-journal, published by the Department of Linguistics at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. A former print publication, from 1982 to 2006, Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia is the oldest journal in the fields of Linguistics, specializing on Greek. The journal welcomes submissions in Greek, English, French and German. The journal also features book reviews.
The journal provides full and open access to its contents; user registration as reader is not required.
- Peer review is defined as obtaining advice on manuscripts from reviewers/experts in the manuscript’s subject area.
- The reviewers may be part of the journal's editorial team.
- All submitted papers are subject to a strict double-blind peer review process by at least two international reviewers that are experts in the area of the particular paper.
- The peer review process can take anywhere between three to six months.
- Supplementary material is subjected to peer review.
- The decision about a manuscript is ultimately made by the editors-in-chief.
- Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia does not guarantee acceptance of initial manuscript submissions.
- In the event of delays, authors will be informed of the reason for the delay and have the opportunity to withdraw their manuscript if they wish.
The journal Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia publishes one volume every year.
Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
All articles published by Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike International 4.0 License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), which permits users to share, copy, distribute and transmit the work provided that the author and the journal are attributed properly and reuse of the material is restricted to non-commercial purposes only as long as the new creations are licensed under the indentical terms
Author(s) retain the copyright of their work without restrictions and grant Γλωσσολογία/ Glossologia the right of first publication and identify the Department of Linguistics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as the original publisher.

Publication Ethics
The Editors-in-Chief and the Editorial Board of Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia adopt the Core Practices as developed by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in order to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record and diminish misconduct, improper practice or unethical behavior in scientific publications. Lack of due diligence with regard to ethical, legal or other constraints can take many forms in research and publishing process. Conflict of interest, authorship dispute, fabrication or falsification of data, manipulation of the review process are only indicative of such a practice. In case any issue is emerged the journal Editors and Editorial Board will handle it according to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is copying ideas, text, data, and other creative work (e.g., tables, graphs) and presenting it as original research without proper citation. The Editorial board does not tolerate plagiarism in any form, therefore editors and reviewers shall always be vigilant about any such case. Author(s) are solely responsible for the originality of the published work. If there is any suspicion, it must be reported to the Editor and members of the Editorial Board. In such cases, the Editor and members of the Editorial Board proceed with further investigation and if suspicions are well founded, procedures as described on Suspected plagiarism in a submitted manuscript are followed accordingly.
Rights and Responsibilities
For Editors
It is the Editors’ responsibility to organize and use peer review process fair and wisely as well as protect the confidentiality of authors and reviewers names.
Editors may reject a paper without peer review when it is deemed unsuitable for the journal’s readers or is of poor quality. This decision should be made in a fair and unbiased way. The decision not to send a paper for peer review should only be based on the academic content of the paper, and should not be influenced by the nature of the authors or the host institution.
Editors should not be involved in decisions about papers in which they have a conflict of interest.
Post-publication concerns are dealt by the Editors-in-Chief and the members of the Editorial Board.
Decisions for potential retractions should be taken by the Editors-in-Chief according to COPE.
For Invited Editors
The Invited Editors should have clear terms and conditions for their role and agree to act in accordance with the provided guidelines, best practices and journal’s policies.
The Invited Editors should disclose any conflict of interest.
Whilst the Invited Editors will primarily select the content for the collection, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal will make the final decision regarding quality of articles based on peer review advice.
Contributions from Invited Editors and their close colleagues are limited to a small part of the content of the guest edited collections.
Manuscripts authored by Invited Editors must be dealt with independently and undergo the same peer review process as all other submissions to the journal. The selection or any other decision regarding Invited Editors’ manuscripts should be made independently of its authors.
Decisions for potential retractions should be taken by the Editors-in-Chief. If deemed necessary, the Editors in Chief may ask for a consultation with the Invited Editor.
For Authors
Authors should consent to the following:
By submitting their manuscript authors confirm that the work is original and has not been send for consideration or being published in another journal.
Responsible research was carried out taking into account any moral, legal or other restrictions.
Any Funding sources and relevant conflicts of interest are disclosed with the manuscript.
Co-authors considered all those who have made significant contribution to the work and their names should be stated with the submission of the manuscript.
Authors are required to cite properly sources that have significantly influenced their research and manuscript. Data, text, figures or ideas originated by others should be properly acknowledged. All applicable copyright laws and conventions should be followed.
Authors must report to the editor any errors they discover in their manuscript. In case they discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the editor and cooperate with her/him to retract or correct the paper.

For Reviewers
Reviewers should not disclose their name during peer review and any information obtained through evaluation of the manuscript is confidential.
Reviewers’ recommendations should contain documentable and specific information about the strengths and weaknesses of the submission.
It is the responsibility of the reviewer to provide a recommendation to the editor for the disposition of the manuscript, categorizing it into one of 4 groups.
Γλωσσολογία/Glossologia does not charge authors any fee for submitting and/or publishing their manuscripts.
The published content is automatically deposited through PKP PN using the LOCKSS Program, which offers decentralized and distributed preservation.
