Γεωργία Κατσούδα & Γιώργος Τράπαλης - Ακαδημία Αθηνών & Κέντρο Λεξικολογίας The paper aims at systematically studying the formation of professional female nouns and making suggestions for improving their teaching. It is suggested that the teaching of these nouns should be based on a standardized description of their morphological formation. For this purpose a written test was administered to upper secondary education and university students and its results were compared with descriptions from Modern Greek grammar books and dictionaries, as well as with data from the internet and two reference corpora of Greek. It is argued that a basic aspect that should be taken into account concerns the endoglossic and the exoglossic parameters that impede or permit the feminization of professional nouns.
