Μαρίνα Τζακώστα: Στάσεις μαθητών της δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης σχετικά με τη χρήση και τη διδασκαλία των νεοελληνικών διαλέκτων στο σχολείο

The present study explores secondary education students’ attitudes regarding a) the teaching of Modern Greek dialects in school and b) its incorporation in the Greek teaching curriculum. The major finding of the questionnaire which was distributed to the participants in our survey was that secondary education students consider the teaching of dialectal variants very important, although they assume that educators/ language instructors, as well as the educational system in general, do not clearly encourage the incorporation of linguistic variants in the Greek teaching curriculum. Our paper presents teaching proposals made by the students themselves, which may facilitate language teaching and at the same time can contribute to the acceptability of language variants as linguistic systems which are “equal” to the standard language.
