The paper offers new evidence contributing to a sketch of the history and description of the dialect of old Athens attempted in a previous paper (Pantelidis 2016). New evidence confirms previous remarks on the variety’s features, whereas the new data underline its similarity with both Peloponnesian and Aegean insular varieties. This view can contribute to a substantial change in our understanding of the dialect map and the history of (southern) Modern Greek.
